I have been hearing this slight ticking noise coming from the #8 cylinder lately and my mechanic buddies and i cant seem to dissect what exactly the noise is. I just did a fresh oil change with 10W-30 Synthetic and the noise persists.

I'm on Mustang number 8, I've driven them every since I've had my drivers license. You will drive yourself nuts with slight ticking and hissing sounds. I wouldn't worry about it. If you start hearing something that sounds like a hammer hitting your block...worry about it... Just use a good quality oil and enjoy your car......

Ive always used Lucas, for oil additives, has worked in the past for quieting some valvtrain noise. I dont really buy into too much stuff, other than Slick 50 for my truck.

Also... if you run your car "hard" a lot, it is going to use oil. I have a supercharged coyote and I can make it use 1 quart every 1000 miles, sometimes more. If I drive it like a grocery getter, well it doesn't use much oil. Also, if you take the cats off, you ARE going to see some smoke "at times", various colors...lol.
