A surgical neck lift is an excellent way to look younger, as the neck is often the first thing to go. A neck lift can leave you with a sharpened jawline, decreased jowling, and smooth skin of the neck, thus returning your youthful appearance. Commonly performed in my accredited surgical facility, I perform neck lifts where I hide the incisions in the crease behind patients’ ears. This approach allows patients to wear their hair back without anyone noticing any telltale signs of surgery. In regard to such non-surgical approaches like Ultherapy, Botox and fillers, I have found that unless you have very subtle signs of aging, the surgical approach is the most effective. Fillers can disguise "necklace lines" (the horizontal lines across the neck) and Botox can soften platysmal bands. But for a truly sagging neck, surgery is the best approach. I have also found that Ultherapy is painful for patients and the results are not impressive when compared to surgery. In addition, Ultherapy can cause internal scarring that makes future surgery more difficult.
