When did Crossroads start?
Crossroads began having families from the Kansas City-area contact us in 2001. Parents began sending their kids to St. Louis and holding their own parent support group meetings in KC. Eventually, the staff started a rotation and began driving to Kansas City’s weekly to support the parents. As the Kansas City group began to build momentum, people from Columbia also began expressing an interest in having a Crossroads program in their community as well.

The Development of The Crossroads Program. Crossroads was originally called the Palmer Drug Abuse Program (PDAP) and began as a nonprofit Enthusiastic Approach, 12-step support group for young people and parents in 1982. In 1983, Frank Szachta sobered up in PDAP and later moved to Phoenix to become a counselor.
How many meetings are there at Crossroads?
As we held more graduations, each group of young people eagerly awaits each Crossroads graduation to this day. The graduates will attend 4-6 meetings with our soon-to-be graduates. They make suggestions of what to do and what not to do. During this process, Crossroads encourages the soon-to-be graduates to attend 90 meeting in 90 days. We explain that just because they are graduating does not mean that they have to be a stranger to Crossroads. We often rely on graduates to help with major functions and graduates are always welcome at the office. Also, all sober graduates are invited to attend our annual gratitude meeting.

In 1983, Frank Szachta sobered up in PDAP and later moved to Phoenix to become a counselor. Frank moved back to St. Louis in 1986 to become the director, during this time the program’s name changed to The Crossroads Program. In 1991, The Crossroads Program became a privately owned enthusiastic approach treatment program.

Everyone needs way more training in just about every department
The blind leading the blind here. Inadequate training, low wages, subpar leadership, very poor communication skills. No solidarity, very unprofessional, disrespectful, unethical, and immoral. You bring ideas, they ignore it or give others credit for it. This place is not a place to bring your best foot forward because they do not appreciate you.

Company Mission is to make money
This company only cares about capturing billable line items and billable hours. Keeps adding services to capture more insurance money while running extreme short staffing.
Horrible Place to Work
This is the worst experience that I have ever encountered in the workplace. It consists of fear based management, serious micro-management and a lack of leadership, Directors who belittle and are condescending due to their own insecurities, and managers that do not listen to their employees when they are screaming for support.
Was initially a good place to work, changes in management changed everything
Initially it was a good place to work with good compensation. There were changes in management, and they wanted more and more from fewer employees. There was also a change in medical leadership that changed the climate for employees
Good hours You get most of your day off however, you have to get up extremely early
For the most part I enjoyed my job. You have to watch who you trust. Corporate puts all kinds of policies in place with not knowing how it affects the clinic.
Management is terrible
The management gossips about the staff and the patients. The director has favorites and is very hard on the new staff. The turnover is great but nothing changes.
