why did the yankees give stanton the silent treatment

Is Giancarlo Stanton a problem for the New York Yankees?

The problem for the Yankees-which will remain a problem until 2026 - is the $30 million or so they are paying Stanton annually. This winter especially their December 2017 trade for him with Derek Jeter’s Marlins looms as perhaps the dumbest decision they ever made.

Is the New York Yankees’ offseason silence deafening?

The New York Yankees’ offseason silence is deafening and just about everyone is becoming fed up with it. Trading for Greg Allen and signing Jhoulys Chacin, Socrates Brito and Adam Warren really isn’t going to get anybody excited. Minor league depth? Yeah, nobody cares.

Are the New York Yankees using the pandemic as an excuse?

The Yankees can cry about money all they want, but everybody suffered because of the pandemic. And if we’re being honest, the Yankees did this to themselves by trading for Giancarlo Stanton and his mammoth contract. And if they’re using that as an excuse not to make additions where they’re needed, then this franchise is going nowhere.

Where did Giancarlo Stanton hit his home run?

WASHINGTON, DC - JULY 23: Giancarlo Stanton #27 of the New York Yankees rounds the bases after hitting a two run home run to center field against Max Scherzer #31 of the Washington Nationals during the first inning in the game at Nationals Park on July 23, 2020 in Washington, DC. Winners

Giancarlo Stanton: The reigning National League MVP got his wish to play for a contending team on one of the geographic coasts. What better place for him to be than in New York and with the Yankees, the most storied franchise in baseball.

Losers

Miami Marlins: Yes, the Marlins and new CEO Derek Jeter did trade Stanton and his massive contract (10 years, $295 million with a $25 million club option for 2028, with the Yankees paying roughly $265 million of it), but it was not the ideal trade they wanted to make. Their top choices to deal Stanton to were the Giants and the Cardinals.
