You can still have sex while you are being treated for bacterial vaginosis because it's not sexually transmitted. However, antibiotics and cream can affect condoms and other contraception. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist who can give you further information.

Can you have sex while clearing up BV?

If you have been treated for BV you should not have sex for seven days after your treatment is over.

What happens if you have sex while taking metronidazole for BV?

Do not have sexual intercourse while you are using this medicine. Having sexual intercourse may reduce the strength of the medicine. This may keep the medicine from working properly.

Can I have sex on metronidazole?

If you are taking metronidazole to treat pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), you must not have sex (even with a condom) until you and your partner have completed treatment. It is best to avoid all sexual contact during this time (including oral sex, vaginal sex, anal sex and sex with a condom).
