Tight fitting urethane seat covers might be the ticket since they are soft and won't be abrasive on the leather and are fairly resistant to moisture from mud on the dog's feet.

New to forum , so late reply . I used Carharrt seat covers and they do not inhibit the heating or cooling of the seats .
