What is the best way to treat fleas?

The best way to treat fleas is to devise a treatment plan that you feel comfortable with. Please don’t waste your money on ineffective products with false claims. Talk with your veterinarian. Buy products wherever you like — but get intelligent advice first.

How effective is one flea treatment for one month?

What ticks can kill a dog?

The main tick of concern for dog owners is the Paralysis Tick (Ixo des holocyclus) as it can cause paralysis and death within 2-4 days of attachment. Whilst Paralysis Ticks occur naturally only in certain geographic areas, (mainly along the coastal eastern seaboard of mainland Australia), they can attach to dogs who visit these areas, particularly if they are allowed to run through scrub. Ticks may also hitch a ride back with you or a neighbour in cars, rugs, towels or plants. More recently there have been reports of dogs displaying symptoms similar to those produced by (Ixodes holocyclus) in Tasmania also.

Spey & Castration

We recommend to desex dogs and cats at 4 to 6 months of age. Older animals can also be desexed, however, learnt male behaviours in older male pets may not improve.
