Is HIFU an option after prostatectomy?

This is called salvage HIFU. HIFU may not be suitable if you have a large prostate. Focal HIFU may still be an option if the areas of cancer are close enough to the probe for the ultrasound to treat. Your scan and biopsy results will show whether this is the case.

Does HIFU treatment require a TURP procedure first?

The proper management is to get a laser or TURP before the HIFU treatment if you have urinary symptoms. If you develop urinary symptoms after HIFU treatment, it is better to treat it with a catheter and let the healing process go for a longer period rather than rushing to any additional surgery as this may cause more incontinence.
