This review discusses the mechanisms responsible for TAM recruitment and highlights the roles of TAMs in regulating tumor angiogenesis, invasion, metastasis, immunosuppression, and chemotherapeutic resistance. Finally, the potential for TAM-targeted therapy as a promising novel strategy is also discussed.
