DOXIROBE Gel is indicated for the treatment and control of periodontal disease in dogs.#N#Periodontal pocket probing depths ≥ 4 mm are evidence of disease that may be responsive to treatment with DOXIROBE Gel. In clinical trials, use of the product resulted in attachment level gains, periodontal pocket depth reductions and improved gingival health. Noticeable improvements in these parameters should be evident within 2-4 weeks following treatment. The response in individual animals is dependent on the severity of the condition and rigor of adjunctive therapy. This product is not intended for use in oronasal fistulas, periapical abscesses, or severely compromised teeth.

Can dogs take tetracyclines?

Do not use in dogs less than 1 year of age as the use of tetracyclines during tooth development has been associated with permanent discoloration of the teeth. Do not use in pregnant bitches. The use of the product in breeding dogs has not been evaluated.

Is doxycycline a tetracycline?

Doxycycline is a semi-synthetic tetracycline derivative. Consistent with the tetracycline class of antibiotics, it has a wide range of antimicrobial activity against microorganisms. Upon contact with the aqueous environment (gingival crevicular fluid) the polymer will coagulate, resulting in the formation of a solid, pliable delivery system within the treated periodontal pocket (s). Doxycycline is released into the gingival crevicular fluid for a local effect on the microorganisms, particularly gram-negative anaerobic bacteria, involved in periodontal disease.

What is doxycycline released into?

Doxycycline is released into the gingival crevicular fluid for a local effect on the microorganisms, particularly gram-negative anaerobic bacteria, involved in periodontal disease. In a clinical trial, the highest plasma doxycycline concentration was observed at 6 hours after treatment administration (2-4 affected teeth in each of 6 dogs).

How to lock syringes together?

Lock the syringes together. 2. Beginning with Syringe A , use the plungers of Syringes A and B to exchange the material between the syringes approximately 100 times to achieve a consistent mixture. 3. Fully deliver the mixture into Syringe A, separate the syringes, and lock the supplied blunt cannula onto Syringe A.

How many syringes are in a pouch?

Use as many units as required to fill the periodontal pockets of affected teeth. 1. Each pouch contains 2 syringes and a blunt cannula. Syringe A contains the polymer delivery system and Syringe B contains doxycycline. Lock the syringes together.

How long can reconstituted syringes be stored?

Reconstituted product not used on the day of mixing should be stored in the resealable foil pouch at room temperature (15-25°C or 59-77°F) and used within 3 days of reconstitution. Ten additional exchanges between syringes should be performed if reconstituted product has been stored.

How does biolase work on dogs?

We will use the laser to go over all of the swollen areas which will kill all of the surface bacteria and will help to significantly reduce the swelling. The MD is also used to penetrate pockets between the gum and the root. By using this procedure, we kill all the bacteria within the pocket to create good blood flow. The laser does not burn or destroy the gum tissue or the root.

What is the procedure for cleaning a greyhound's teeth?

For this procedure, your dog's teeth will be cleaned using one of two different anesthesia protocols. If your greyhound is just having its teeth cleaned it will be anesthetized using Dex-Domitor/Antiseden. Dex-Domitor will sedate your dog but will not put it into a deep sleep. Antiseden reverses the anesthesia and will wake your dog up quickly.

What is bonding a dog?

Bonding is a procedure that is done when a dog has extensive, root-exposed areas on a tooth that must be left in place. Canines often come under this category. The canine root is very deep and even with significant exposure, most of the tooth is still firmly implanted in the jaw. Bonding is a procedure borrowed from human dentistry and ultimately, through several steps, we achieve a result that will leave a root-exposed tooth smooth from the tip of the tooth to the gum so that bacteria can no longer attach itself to the tooth. I know of no other vet facility that does this procedure quite the way that we do it. Most veterinary practices do not offer bonding at all.

Can a greyhound be ultrasonically cleaned?

Most greyhounds will permit us to ultrasonically clean the outer surface of their upper teeth, which is the area that builds up plaque the quickest, without any anesthesia protocol. The degree of work being done will ultimately define on the final price. We will determine whether your greyhound only needs a touch-up or if it needs to be anesthetized for a more thorough cleaning once we visually inspect your greyhound's mouth.
