The nix treatment or permethrintreatment for lice can not show any adverse reaction if it is retained for some minutes more then 10 minutes but for more longer duration chances for having side effects may increase as this may be absorbed systemically.

After 10 minutes, the medicine is rinsed off. Nix Creme Rinse® kills lice, but not the nits. It is the favored medicine because it may continue to kill newly hatched lice for a few days after treatment. A second treatment is needed on day 9 to kill newly hatched lice.

What happens if you leave lice treatment on longer than recommended?

The medicine may take longer to kill all the lice. Comb dead and any remaining live lice out of the hair using a fine–toothed nit comb. If, after 8–12 hours of treatment, no dead lice are found and lice seem as active as before, the medicine may not be working.

Can I wash my hair after lice treatment?

Allow the medicine to sit on the scalp as directed on the bottle and then rinse with water. You do not need to use regular shampoo or conditioner after the lice treatment. In fact, it is best to not shampoo again for 2 days, in order to give the medicine time to work.

How long do you leave lice treatment in your hair?

Leave the shampoo on for a full 10 minutes. If you don't, it won't kill all the lice. Then rinse the hair well with water and dry it with a towel. Repeat the anti-lice shampoo in 9 days.

How often should you comb out hair after lice treatment?

Do not rewash hair for 1 to 2 days after the lice treatment. It may reduce the effectiveness of the lice medicine. Continue to check hair and use the nit comb to remove nits and lice every 2 to 3 days for 2 to 3 weeks. This process should be done for as long as nits and lice are still found on the head.
