Intensive Outpatient (IOP)
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs) are a form of drug treatment that allows individuals to receive the therapy they need while remaining in their homes and community. IOPs allow for the flexibility to continue working and living at home while still meeting treatment demands.
Outpatient Program
Outpatient treatment programs are less intensive than an inpatient program. Participants live at home while working or going to school. Benefits include being able to continue relationships with family, friends, and work/studies. Treatment includes educating patient on addiction to drugs, medication, and counseling.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
A Partial Hospitalization Program is the safest way for a person suffering from addiction to get treatment without putting their family at risk. The addict has the freedom to check in and out of treatment, yet they still receive outside guidance and confinement if needed to beat their addiction.
Intervention
Drug rehab intervention aims to make sure patients understand the risks of their addiction and possible outcomes if they continue their behavior. They must learn how their addiction affects those around them and allow a therapy session to help move past the physical symptoms.

What is an intensive outpatient rehab program?
Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. White Sands tailors their outpatient alcohol rehab and detox programs according to the specific needs of each patient, so the facility offers treatment programs of varying intensity. However, all of these programs will involve regular visits to the treatment center, often three days a week, and include frequent and in-depth cognitive behavioral therapy. After spending full days in their private rehab facility, clients will be able to return home in the evenings.
What is medically assisted detox?
Medically Assisted Detox: Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one’s body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged.
How long does a partial hospitalization last?
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don't require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for ~ 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). The PHP is designed to suit patients who are classified as stable, but nonetheless, continue to need medical monitoring. Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
What is residential treatment?
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
