Overview

Children’s therapeutic services and supports (CTSS) for children’s day treatment is a site-based, structured mental health treatment program. It consists of psychotherapy and skills training services.

Eligible Providers

Children’s and adult day treatment services have different certifications, standards and limitations.

Noncovered Services

CTSS day treatment does not cover mental health behavioral aide (MHBA) services. MHBAs are not an eligible provider of CTSS day treatment services. Other noncovered services include:

Treatment

Our clinical team consists of faculty (child/adolescent psychiatrists and clinical psychologists), nurses, a social worker, and a range of trainees who work together to provide expert care for children and adolescents and their families.

Experts in our Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Division are working to advance knowledge about the causes and mechanisms of mental health problems in children and adolescents, and seeking to discover new ways to intervene.

Recruiting and developing trainees in children’s mental health to become excellent clinicians, researchers and educators.

In addition to the child attending therapeutic group sessions, clinicians help children and families through pre- and after-care services, group and family therapy and connect with psychiatric services as needed.

Payment

A client’s health insurance, Medical Assistance and/or Hennepin County will be billed for Day Treatment services. Clients may have financial responsibility for co-pays or deductibles. We are also able to provide services for uninsured Hennepin County residents.

Locations

Washburn Center’s therapeutic groups are located at its Minneapolis office.

Therapeutic Learning Center (TLC) – Half-Day Program

Day treatment services are developed and provided in a center-based daily therapeutic environment for children ages 11 to 17 whose mental health needs are impacting learning and school attendance. Collaboration between the family and school districts helps to build the appropriate skills for the child’s successful return to their community school.

Therapeutic Education Collective (TEC) – Full-Day Program

The Therapeutic Education Collective (TEC) program provides mental health child day treatment service to students from ISD 622 ages 12-17 who have struggled significantly with mental health symptoms for more than 6 months. Some examples of these

Elementary Mental Health Classrooms (EMHC)

In Elementary Mental Health Classrooms (EMHC), Canvas Health partners with school districts to help students learn academic and social-emotional skills in a school environment. Our mental health clinicians work side-by-side with a teacher and education assistants in the classroom.
