Treatment FAQ

viva laser treatment how long until redness goes away

by Marian Sauer Published 3 years ago Updated 2 years ago

The redness will fade after a few hours of therapy. Your black area will show as dark brown "speckles" during week one, then "flake off" over weeks 1-3. You may have some scarring if you press too hard while treating your black spot. Laser treatment can also make other areas of your skin look darker and even cause new spots to appear.

Is there any downtime? A mild sunburn sensation, redness and dryness is expected for 24-48 hours post treatment. Most patients will return to their daily routine 24 hours following the treatment.

Answer: Vitamin C serum to treat prolonged erythema after laser resurfacing

Prolonged erythema (redness) following facial resurfacing is common and may persist for many months following resurfacing. Vitamin C serum can be used to help decrease the prolonged erythema (redness) following resurfacing with C02 or Erbium laser. I would recommend at least a 10% Vitamin C serum.

Answer: Erbium vs CO2, depth and power

For fully ablative CO2 laser - up to 4 months or beyond, however for a conservative setting, 4-8 weeks is quite normal. Erbium laser a few weeks less. Redness is not a problem as we can treat this with a vascular laser, or V BEAM pulse dye laser. All the best, Dr Davin Lim. Brisbane. Australia.

I would agree a return visit with the surgeon and get opinions on Vitamin C emollients and other topical treatments. Best wishes

How Does Vbeam Laser Treatment Work?

The Vbeam laser is a type of laser that uses an organic dye to produce high-energy light beams. The intense radiation is delivered in short pulses to limit the skin injury, so the Vbeam laser is also commonly referred to as the “pulsed dye laser” or “PDL.”

What Should You Do Before Your Vbeam Treatment Session?

Your BHSkin Dermatology skincare expert will give you a full medical examination before considering any procedure. Giving your complete medical history will help the physician determine if Vbeam laser treatment is right for you. If it is not, they will recommend a safer and more effective alternative.

What Happens During a Pulsed Dye Laser Session?

You will be asked to wear eye protection at the beginning of your session. The dermatologist will then clean the treatment area and apply the laser in pulses. The equipment sprays a coolant to limit laser heat on your skin, so expect the procedure to be painless even without anesthesia.

What Can You Expect During the Vbeam Laser Recovery Period?

Vbeam recovery is usually quick and problem-free. However, health conditions affecting the blood, immune system and connective tissues can delay healing or produce complications. That is why you must tell your dermatologist about any other medical concerns before undergoing this procedure.

Conclusion

Vbeam therapy uses non-ablative laser energy to improve various skin disorders. It is indicated for vascular lesion treatment, acne scar removal, skin rejuvenation and many others. It is generally safe and effective, but it is not for every skin type.
