I initially bought into the hype about it’s much touted “miracle ingredient” called Pitera, which is why I’m on my third bottle of the stuff. But I need to see the science behind this ingredient before I fork out this much money again.

If you’ve seen my instagram stories then you know that I recently found a stash of my SK-ll Facial Treatment Essence hidden in the back of one of my skincare drawers. I bought it in the last Sephora VIB sale and forgot about it. I’m a devoted essence user, and don’t care if it adds another step to my skincare routine.
How Pitera was discovered
In the 1970’s the original owners of SK-ll visited a sake brewery in Japan where the workers hands were smooth and youthful as compared to their aging faces. They attributed this hand rejuvenation to the yeast that the workers handled all day.

I found this study and this one studying the effects of Pitera and show good results. But, one of the authors of both studies, just happens to work for Proctor and Gamble. Hmm…
