I just bought a 2000 z71 with 75,000 miles on it and the previous owner put slick 50 in every other oil change and changed it every 6,000 mile with 5w30 mobil 1. Should I keep putting the slick 50 in or not? I plan on still using mobil 1 but changing it every 3,000. I have just never been a fan of oil treatments but guess everyone has a opinon.

I've never put oil treatments in anything I've owned , personally I think the are a waste of money! I just traded in a 96 Silverado with 148,000 , got a 02 Nissan Quest with 121,000 and a 96 Honda Civic with 240,000 and none of them use a drop of oil! Conventional oil and Wix filter every 3,000 miles!

did the previous owner do it just because, or was there a reason (i.e. an oil leak somewhere, or for reduce oil consumption)?

That slick 50 would have done no good, just floated on top of the Mobil-1. Most additives won't mix in with oils now a days.
