Isn't your hair gonna be greasy if you don't shampoo it out? I hot oil before I shampoo then deep condition after. But sometimes I mix my hair oil mix with the deep conditioner and deep condition with both. Once it emulsifies with the deep conditioner it washes out with no residue.

I mix oil with my Deep Conditioner. Just stir it in real good. Or you can even put some DC in your hand, pour some oil on top and mix that way. I assume you apply some type of heat when you DC. It's the same thing imo. I think it makes my hair more soft and shiny.

I rarely do hot oil treatments, but when I do I usually mix it with deep conditioner then use a heating cap for 30 mins. ‘Hot oil’ to me can mean the type listed in the OP with that specific title, or heated coconut, olive, almond, shea, etc. oils.
