Can IUI be done at home?

Is IUI procedure painful?

IUI is minimally invasive, and patients do not even require pain medication or anesthesia during treatment. Patients may experience a slight pinching experience (similar to that experienced during a routine pap smear) and a little cramping as the catheter is passed through the cervix.

Should I try IUI before IVF?

If you qualify for both procedures, your provider might recommend that you start with IUI. IVF is usually saved for women who haven't successfully gotten pregnant from other fertility treatments. While IVF can be an incredibly rewarding process, IUI is less expensive, less invasive, and less time-consuming than IVF.
