The oVertone Daily Conditioner is meant to be just that – a daily conditioner. Use it whenever you shampoo or rinse your hair to replace the color you’re washing down the drain. It’s a great choice if you have oily hair or you don’t like heavy conditioners.

Because Overtone Deep Treatment isn't a dye, the color budges pretty easily — practically at the mere mention of water.

How often should I use overtone coloring?

Since it's semi-permanent, Overtone color washes out fairly easy. It’s recommended to reapply the Coloring Conditioner once a week (or use the Daily Conditioner every day) for best results. For me, that’s not an issue.

How much oVertone should I use?

Overtone stains easily, and doesn't last very long As Allure notes, the product stains bathtubs and sinks very easily, and can be quite a hassle to remove with bleach. The treatment is also thick and viscous, so it requires a very long rinsing time which increases the risk of staining your skin and bathroom surfaces.

Can you leave oVertone on longer than 15 minutes?

We recommend that our Daily Conditioners stay in for about 3-5 minutes, and our Coloring Conditioners about 10-15 minutes. If you like to relax with color in your hair, you can leave it in as long as you like – no harm will come to your hair. If you'd like to see the brightest results possible, apply to dry hair.

Should I shampoo after oVertone?

The Overtone site recommends using clarifying shampoo. I used a Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo and made sure I followed up with a hydrating conditioner. This will help strip and fade your temporary color. And for an extra boost, rinse in hot water.

Is oVertone better on wet or dry hair?

For even brighter color results, apply oVertone conditioners to clean, dry hair. Make sure you wear an old t-shirt or something you don't mind getting color on. Without water molecules in the way, the hair cuticle can absorb more pigment.

Can I use oVertone two days in a row?

Step 1: In the shower, get your hair wet and if you are going to shampoo, do it first. Step 2: Apply oVertone Daily Conditioner liberally to your hair and distribute it evenly. Step 3: Leave on for 3-5 minutes. Step 4: Rinse with warm or hot water and repeat whenever you wash your hair!

How do I remove bathtub oVertone?

Stain removal Some of our clients find great luck with using an all-purpose cleaner that has either bleach or peroxide in it. Follow the instructions on the label, and in most cases it will take care of the stain. You can also research the material the tub is made out of and see what are best ways to remove stains.

If you're still seeing a tint of color in your hair after fading and toning, your best bet is to see your stylist and let them know you're looking to get oVertone removed from your hair — a professional direct pigment or dye remover should be used prior to any bleach or lighteners.

2. Apply!

Start at the roots and work your way down the section, grabbing more conditioner as you go — wear gloves if you are worried about staining your hands. Once you’ve reached the ends of the section, start on another section, repeat the same process — starting at the roots.

3. Rinse, and check the results

If you find any spots that could use another dose of color, don’t be afraid to repeat the process – some people’s hair is less accepting of pigment than others, and those with virgin or healthy hair may like to do a second round.

It depends on the color of your hair. If you are just adding color on top of your natural color – yes. But remember, oVertone conditioners only deposit color. They don’t lift or lighten your hair, so if your roots grow in darker than the rest of your hair, you’ll still have to lighten them.
