Owing to myocardial abnormalities, cardiac ailments are considered to be the major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. According to a recent study, membranous vesicles that are produced naturally, termed as “exosomes”, have emerged as the potential candidate in the field of cardiac regenerative medicine.

Introduction

Cardiac problems and their related diseases are considered to be the major cause of morbidity and mortality around the World ( 1, 2 ). Reports suggest that 17.7 million population succumb to death every year due to the risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), which claims 31% of the total deaths worldwide ( 1 ).

The uptake of exosomes could be denoted as the process in which exosome signals are transferred to the recipient cell by a three-step mechanism that involves the interaction of receptors, membrane fusion, and endocytosis ( 65 ). In addition, exosome uptake was measured quantitatively by using fluorescent EGFP Renilla protein ( 66 ).

Initially, exosomes are synthesized with the inward budding of the cell membrane that gives rise to early endosomes processed by a secondary inward budding of the endosomal membrane to develop into numerous intraluminal vesicles (ILVs), also referred to as the late endosomes ( 13 ).
