does anybody know how to grow hair back after radiation treatment?

by Dr. Lon O'Keefe V Published 2 years ago Updated 1 year ago

Yes, it is possible for hair to grow back after radiation treatment. It is also possible that the hair will never grow back. A major determinant is whether or not the scalp damage caused by radiation heals with scar / fibrous tissue formation. This is is pecially important if you have lost hair in the area for more than 6 months.

Your hair may grow back in 3 to 6 months after your treatment is over. It really depends on the amount of radiation you get. People who get very high doses may not see their hair return. In the meantime, wash your hair gently with a mild shampoo and pat it dry.Jan 15, 2020
